How to Entice a Picky Eater
Your horse needs to finish their feed. Sometimes the issue isn’t hunger — it’s palatability. Here’s how to use Improve Equine Flavors to get a picky horse eating everything in their bucket.
Why horses become picky eaters
Horses can be picky for a few distinct reasons — and the fix depends on which problem you’re dealing with.
1. Supplement or medication smell
If you’ve added a supplement or medication to feed, the chemical odor can trigger refusal. The fix: Add Flavors Hydration Mix directly to the feed. The warm aroma overwhelms the supplement smell and gives your horse a positive scent cue.
2. Flavor burnout
Repeated exposure to the same taste reduces palatability response over time. The fix: Rotate flavors. Adding a tablespoon of a different Flavors variety re-interests the horse without changing nutritional content.
Don’t change your macros. Change the flavor.
3. Building the right macro profile without fighting the flavor
Flavors Hydration Mix adds no meaningful calories (35 or fewer per serving), no added sugar, no salt, no electrolytes — so it doesn’t interfere with your nutritional program. It just makes the bucket more appealing.
